MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

The April Board Meeting having been canceled; the Palms of Terra Ceia Bay Board of Supervisors met on May 12 at 4pm in the Back-Bay dining room. Supervisors sat at their own tables with 6-foot distances; and residents/guests sat at their own tables distancing as well.  Masks were worn by all.  All future CDD meetings will now be scheduled in the dining room at a new 3PM meeting time.

Our District Engineer was present to further discuss the bids received for the road project proposal and to answer any remaining questions from the Board before a vote was called for on the recommended bid by Mariotti Asphalt.   The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to accept the bid; the start date has not been determined but will probably commence sometime during the early part of June.  We will keep you advised.

You may have noticed that a new iron gate, matching the existing gates, has been installed on the exit side. The broken wrought iron fencing at the end of the street and 14th Ave. has also been replaced.   We still do not have a date for the gate actuators, but as soon as they are in place, we will notify all resident of the actual date the gates and arms will be closing and opening together.

Russ Kitching, our landscaper, and Sandra Schadwill, our consultant, have come up with some wonderful ideas and pretty plants, and the landscaping is looking great.  It is our intention to keep the landscaping looking beautiful, because it does reflect on our house values.  And its just nice to look at.

We put signs out on the pier limiting the number of people to 10 and asking people to please wait for others to leave if they should exceed the number.  We appreciate your cooperation and distancing while on the pier.   Also, we put buckets and brushes out for whoever wants to pitch in and clean off the benches.  They are being used.  When we first put them out, the benches were “pelican white”; now, they are always clean.  Thank you, everyone, for helping.

Presently, we are in the process of making new wildlife pictures for the boardwalk and redesigning the kiosk at the entrance of the pier and boardwalk.

See you next month….Remember new time is 3pm.

Judi O’Connor

Chairman
